Climate change is a result of global warming. In the years since the industrial revolution global temperatures have increased drastically due to the enhanced greenhouse effect.
The greenhouse effect is the reason there is life on earth. There is just the right amount of greenhouse gases for enough sunlight to enter our atmosphere without acting carcinogenic. These gases trap heat from the sun and in so doing allow the earth to have the right temperature to support life. However, since the industrial revolution relied upon coal (a hydrocarbon) to support it they were unconsciously releasing more carbon dioxide than the natural amount. The amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere since the industrial revolution has increased dramatically as more people continue to want more mechanical goods.
